Bible School offers the perfect prism through which to explore the
changing dynamics of the holiness movement. Thornton's sympathetic
history brings to life much more than an institution. The institution
focuses the networks of people in a larger story that illuminates the
large course of American Methodism and evangelicalism.
Blumhofer, Wheaton College
has provided both an interpretation of the history of GBS and a
passionate, carefully nuanced and strategically documented history of
the Wesleyan/holiness traditions in the late 19th and early 20th
centuries. Both he and the publisher are to be congratulated for the

About the Author:
Wallace Thornton, Jr. (M.A. in Church History, Cincinnati
Bible Seminary) has taught Church history at three colleges,
including God's Bible School and College, and has written
extensively on holiness movement history, including several
scholarly articles and his first book *Radical Righteousness.* He
earned two degrees from GBSC (B.A. 1992; Th.B. 1994) and served
there as a faculty members from 1992 to 1997. He remains active in
preaching, educational, and publication ministry based in the
Indianapolis area where he resides with his wife Janice (Eckert;
also a GBSC graduate, B.A. 1995) and four children.
